私の作品づくりについて
日本には、割れ、欠け、歪みなどの「不完全さ」や「異形」を愛するという「茶の湯」に由来する美意識が存在します。このことは私の作品における大きなテーマの一つであります。
私たち多くの人間の身体や精神も完全な存在ではなく、「不完全さ」や欠点を寛容に愛することは、人類が互いに愛し合う素晴らしいアイデアだと私は考えます。 不完全でありながらも、美しく、威厳を持って輝く。 私の作品にはそのようなメッセージを込めています。
また、私の作品にはしばしば金色や銀色の金属色に加え、原色を多用した彩色が施してあります。色鮮やかな文様や絵を施した割烹食器をつくる工房に生まれた私にとって、その行為つまり作品に「色彩」を施すことは生理的欲求ともいえる自然な行為といえます。

My Artistic Practice
In Japan, there exists an aesthetic sensibility, derived from the “Cha-no-yu” or Japanese tea ceremony, that celebrates “imperfection” and “unconventional forms”—such as cracks, chips and distortions. This is one of the major themes in my work.
The bodies and minds of most of us are not perfect either, and I believe that embracing “imperfection” and flaws with tolerance is a wonderful way for humanity to love each other. To shine with beauty and dignity, despite one’s imperfections. This is the message I imbue in my works.
Furthermore, my pieces of work are often colored using primary colors, in addition to metallic shades of gold and silver. Having been born in a pottery studio that produces Kappo* tableware adorned with vivid patterns and paintings, the act of applying “color” to my work is a natural instinct—one might even call it a physiological urge.

*The term, Kappo, refers to the general process of cooking, which involves “cutting” meat and fish with a kitchen knife and “cooking” them over heat. By extension, it refers to restaurants that use fresh, seasonal ingredients to prepare authentic Japanese cuisine right in front of customers, tailored to their preferences.
